The Institute is a national class B engineering design unit and engineering design advisory unit, being qualified as designer of class Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ pressure vessels and turnkey contractor of carbon black plant and silica plant. It has undertaken and fulfilled nearly 100 engineering design projects, including improved hard/ soft oil furnace black plant, semi-reinforcing gas black plant, acetylene black plant, carbon black tail gas power plant, carbon black wet pelletizing unit and silica plant as well as 15,000_20,000MT/Y improved carbon black plant with advanced international level. The Institute has also been qualified to undertake development and manufacture of carbon black reactor, DMBFC pulse jet bag filter, micro-pulverizer and other special equipment for carbon black industry and chemical industry.
The Institute has undertaken independently or participated in drawing up the long-term program for the development of carbon black industry in China, and drawn up or revised 69 national carbon black (including silica and light colour reinforcing materials) standard. The National Carbon Black Quality Inspection Center has undertaken repeatedly selective or general examination assigned by China Supervisory Bureau of Technical Specification and the former Chemical Industry Ministry, quality inspection for new products and for arbitration entrusted by carbon black producers and users, training quality inspectors, and supply of special tester or agents for carbon black plants to enhance quality of carbon black products.. |

The Institute, formerly named R＆D and Design Institute Of Carbon Black Industry Attached To The Ministry Of Chemical Industry, is the sole R ＆ D and engineering design facility of carbon black industry in China. It was approved and recognized by the government as the Carbon Black Technical Development Center, Engineering Development Center, National Carbon Black Quality Inspection Center, Convening Unit For Carbon Black Standardization, Engineering Design Center and Carbon Black Technical ＆ Economical Information Center The Institute owns staff of 600, about 250 of them are technical personnel (engineer and senior engineer 120) and several of them are well-known in carbon black industry.
The Institute has owned over 100 scientific and technical achievements, 50 of which have won National, Ministerial or Provincial Scientific Achievement (Process) Awards, respectively. The Institute also owned over 10 national patents. The improved hard/soft carbon black process developed by the Institute and 15,000MT/Y improved carbon black process introduced from foreign country, digested and innovated by the Institute are characterized by their wide application and low investment, and has been widely used in over 80% of carbon black plants in China, and achieved significant economic efficiency for carbon black industry. The technology has also been exported. The process, capacity and equipment of 20,000 and 30,000MT/Y hard/soft carbon black plant developed recently by the Institute has achieved international level of the similar process.
