Research interests focus on analytical chemistry and its application in environmental and food safety, as well as the related biochemistry. I pay attention to the development of analytical procedures for the extraction and detection of pollutants, such as pesticide residuals and persistent organic pollutants, in foodstuffs. To establish bio-screening analytical methods for the determination of important pollutants and the bioassay-guided fractionation of natural products by using cell and enzyme is my particular interests. In fact, food safety is heavily depended on its production environments since pollutants are concentrated through food chain. Additionally, constraining from environment to life used as foodstuff can result in the unexpected components. I thus investigate the effect of these factors on food safety and develop the corresponding evaluation measurements. Meanwhile, I also intend to develop some techniques to remedy the polluted environmental elements, especially for the soil polluted with organic compounds, by combining chemical and biological techniques (chemically enhanced bioremediation). |
